The Charlotte Singers
The Charlotte Singers are an enthusiastic dedicated, and eclectic group of amateur, professional, and semi-professional singers ranging in age from 15 to 80. The group currently consists of 65 voices and is accompanied by Helen McCorkle Finch on piano, Scott Rauschenberg on percussion, Jill Fung on cello, Ed Wielunski on violin, Vacil Gomez on flute, David Finch on pedal steel, and handbells by the Pineville United Methodist Ringers. In addition, there will be a guest vocal performance by middle schooler, Sloan Adams. Helen McCorkle Finch founded the Charlotte Singers in 2015 with only seven members and would like to see the numbers grow to 100. Helen's only recommendation for membership is that the prospective member has some previous choral experience. A small fee is required to cover the cost of sheet music. Auditions are not required. Mrs. McCorkle Finch was born and raised in Greenville, South Carolina. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in piano at Furman University and earned her Master’s Degree in piano performance/pedagogy from LSU and Georgia State University. Helen's experience includes playing with world renowned bass singer Jerome Hines of the Metropolitan Opera, as well as having founded the Park City Singers, a 100- member choral group, in Park City, Utah.
