Narture CIC
Narture is a community arts and food social enterprise based in Ayr. We bake real bread to earn the dough to fund art.
After four years at 22 Sandgate, we’ve moving into a larger home for our new Cafe/Bar at Shape -32 Newmarket Street- moving here from Tuesday 17th March. This next chapter gives us more space for what we love most: bringing people together through good food and bold ideas.
From supper clubs and gigs to hands-on workshops and talks, our events are rooted in creativity, accessibility and local collaboration. Everything we do feeds back into supporting artists, nurturing talent and building a more connected town.
What started as a small bakery/café has grown into a network of 5 spaces, each with its own role:
KNEAD – our Sourdough Bakery where everything begins. We bake real bread, providing apprenticeships/training, artisan skills and local employment with profits reinvested into the arts at 3 Cathcart St.
SHAPE – our larger cafe/bar and events space at 32 Newmarket Street. Home to supper clubs, gigs, talks and evening happenings, with room to gather, experiment and celebrate.
MAKE – our creative artist in residence studio offering local, national & international artists a place to make, show and interact, hosting hands-on sessions, classes and community projects across art, craft and design.
CREATE – our Riso print studio and darkroom. A space for analogue processes, print experiments and workshops, supporting artists and the public to get hands-on with publishing and photography.
STUDIOS – Affordable creative and wellbeing studios for local artists, makers and small creative businesses. A place where talent can stay, grow and thrive in Ayr. Flexible space also available to hire for coworking or wellbeing events.
Together, these spaces form a growing creative ecosystem rooted in access, collaboration and regeneration. Everything we do is about making culture feel welcoming, practical and possible.
