Archive Skills Training (from the BRA)
The British Records Association (BRA) is a charity which aims to promote the preservation, understanding, accessibility and study of our recorded heritage for the public benefit. In early 2025, to further these charitable aims, the BRA entered into an association with Margaret Crockett and Janet Foster (both formerly of The Archive-Skills Consultancy Ltd) to support the delivery of their long-running Basic Archive Skills Training Day, originally developed in 1991. In 2026, on their retirement from the course, Margaret and Janet passed on their course facilitator roles to Nicola Allen (Palimpsest Archive Consultancy) and Becky Sims (Head of Archives and Reader Services, University College London). This online course is designed to provide participants with a basic grounding in the fundamental understanding and skills required for those making their way in today’s world of archives and records management.
