RAWFILL Training days - 2nd and 3rd of February, 2021
Informations sur l'événement
À propos de cet événement
The RAWFILL partners are pleased to invite you to the RAWFILL training days that will be held on the 2nd and 3rd of February 2021. The RAWFILL training days are a good opportunity to learn more about geophysical technics and to discover and learn how to use the tools (ELIF, Cedalion and Orion) developed in the framework of the RAWFILL project. The RAWFILL methodology coupling geophysical measurements and guided samples is a powerful method to characterize the landfill geometry and its content (resources, hazardous waste deposits, etc.). In addition, the RAWFILL tools provide information regarding the future of the landfill site and its economic potential.
Please find below the program of the event:
Day 1 – 2nd of February 2021 – Online event
The first day of training will be online and will focus on the geophysics and the tools developed within the RAWFILL project. The theoretical aspect of the geophysical methods that can be used to characterize landfill will be presented (Electromagnetic induction, Magnetometry, Electrical resistivity tomography, Induced Polarization, Multi-channel analysis of surface waves, Ground penetrating radar, Horizontal to vertical spectral ratio of noise). You will also learn the basics to interpret the geophysical data. In the afternoon, the final version of the ELIF (Enhanced Landfill Inventory Framework) and of the Decision Support Tools Cedalion and Orion will be shown. You will also have the possibility to test the tools on real cases studies.
09h30 – 09h45 : RAWFILL project – quick overview , SPAQuE (Wallonia, Belgium)
09h30 – 10h10 : General presentation of the characterization of LFs by using geophysics, University of Liège (Wallonia, Belgium)
10h10 – 10h30 : Q&A
10h30 – 10h45 : Coffee Break
10h45 – 11h45 : Detailed presentations of the geophysical methods applied in RAWFILL, University of Liège (Wallonia, Belgium)
11h45 – 12h00 : Q&A
12h00 – 13h00 : Lunch Break
13h00 – 13h45: ELIF (Enhanced Landfill Inventory Framework) – Presentation and application on real case studies, ATRASOL (Wallonia, Belgium)
13h45 – 14h00: Q&A
14h00 – 15h00: DST (Decision Support Tool) – Cedalion and Orion – Presentation , OVAM (Flanders, Belgium)
15h00 – 15h30: Q&A and Closing discussion
Day 2 – 3rd of February 2021 – Site visit of Bertrix landfill and demonstration of geophysics
(depending on the evolution of the constraints related to the covid 19 situation)
The second day will be dedicated to the visit of Bertrix landfill site (Wallonia), one of the RAWFILL project pilot sites. Demonstration of four geophysical techniques (Ground penetrating radar, electrical resistivity tomography, seismic refraction profiling and H/V measurements) will be organized on site.
10h00 – 10h15 : Welcome
10h15 – 10h30 : Bertrix landfill - Site visit
10h30 – 12h30 : Demonstration of geophysics, University of Liège (Wallonia, Belgium)
Registration
The two training days are free of charge but the registration is mandatory. You have the possibility to either participate to the entire training session (two days) or only one day. Please register before the 29th of January, 2021. A zoom link will be sent to the participants a few days prior the event. Note that due to the current sanitary crisis, the number of participants for the site visit is limited. Depending on how the covid 19-situation will evolve in January, the site visit could be potentially cancelled. The exact location of the landfill site as well as a confirmation of the site visit will be sent to the participants one week prior the event.
Depending on the background of the participants, the event will be held in English or in French.
We look forward to seeing you there.
