Nilgem
Niloofar Mousavipak(founder of Nilgem) is a gemologist and researcher based in Lyon with a Ph.D. in Gemology from Claude Bernard University Lyon 1. Trained in both geology and advanced gemological sciences, she also holds a University Diploma in Gemmology from the same institution, as well as Graduate Diamonds and AJP certifications from the GIA.
Over the past two decades, Niloofar has worked across academia, museums and industry: she has headed a gemology laboratory in Tehran, taught gemology at Shahid Beheshti University, and trained customs officers in gemstone and mineral identification. Her consulting projects range from large‑scale emerald purchasing in Brazil to the authentication of historical turquoise pieces for major Parisian museums, including the Balzac Museum and the Musée des Arts Décoratifs.
Alongside her research and publications on Persian turquoise and semi‑precious stones, Niloofar designs workshops for both professionals and the general public, where she combines rigorous science with accessible, hands‑on learning using real gemstones.
