About this event
The ICOMOS International Scientific Committee on Education and Training (CIF) researches and promotes international cooperation in the field of education and training for the understanding, protection, conservation and management of built heritage, historic sites and cultural landscapes. It works on the advancement of greater understanding of such heritage, and the appropriate approaches, intervention criteria, technologies and management for its conservation, and to advise on the development of ICOMOS programs in this field.
The ICOMOS CIF 2022 Symposium will focus on education and training for the conservation of architectural and archaeological heritage, at all levels, understanding also the issues of professional competence and accreditation. It also intends to promote intergenerational engagement, bringing together very experienced professionals as well as emerging ones and students. The Symposium will include presentations by leading architectural conservation educators and architectural and archaeological conservation professionals and a round table.
Educational programmes, architectural and archaeological conservation projects will be presented in the first day as evidence of successful experiences, with a subsequent round table for an open discussion. We have allowed also enough time for coffee breaks and working lunches so to enable the maximum time for interaction and exchanges between the speakers and all the participants in the Symposium. During the second day there will be a series of local visits and the ICOMOS CIF members will attend the Annual General Meeting reviewing past activities and setting the agenda for the coming year.
We have established the programme to cover a variety of experiences, approaches, methods and instruments. We would also like all the attendants to actively contribute to the Symposium, so please send to ICOMOS CIF at: cif@icomos.org any relevant information and experiences you may have in the specific topics. All the submission will be reviewed and the selected material will be discussed during the round table and included in the Symposium Proceedings.
