Description

For a New European Social Contract

The new EUNIC Brussels conference cycle questioning the future of Europe.

Building on EUNIC Brussels previous initiatives (“European Angst” and “Sweating for Europe”), the project, made of 4 panel discussions, has the ambition to rethink a social contract which would take into account the peculiarities of our world today.

The panel discussions aim at concretely looking to the future of Europe, using concepts of “protection” and “care” as basis. The ambition of the cycle is to rethink a social contract, that does not only rely on the relationship between citizens and the state anymore, but goes beyond and takes into account the different dimensions of people of our time and the crucial topics they are facing: concerns about security matters, respect of privacy, preservation of social rights, recognition of identities, care for the aging population, opportunities for the next generation, and preservation of natural environment. By echoing the 2018 European parliamentary agenda, it appears of a great importance to go into the debate in depth with intellectuals that would bring a critical and relevant opinion, different from specialist’s vision of the topic.
