Duo Kiasma

We are pleased to invite you to a discussion-encounter devoted to cultural soft power, with Duo Kiasma (Pierre Fontenelle, cello, and Frin Wolter, accordion).

Through their music and international career, the two artists will show how artistic creation can become a real lever of influence and cultural outreach. Between European stages and tours across Asia, they will share their experience of a musical world where creation travels without borders and turns every performance into a genuine encounter between cultures.

To mark the release of their album Polaris (11 October), the director of the Trifolion in Echternach, Maxime Bender, will also join us as a guest.

Moderated by Prof. Dr. Sonja Kmec, adjunct professor of history at the University of Luxembourg.

What could be more unexpected — and compelling — than the pairing of a cello and an accordion?

Duo Kiasma, formed by Pierre Fontenelle and Frin Wolter, boldly travels across stylistic horizons, blending the sonorities of their instruments into a genre-defying repertoire. Winners of the First Prize at the International Accordé'Opale Competition, the duo has performed at venues including the Philharmonie Luxembourg, the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel, the Taipei National Concert Hall, and the Shanghai Oriental Art Center, and took part in the traditional Christmas Concert at the Royal Palace for the Belgian Royal Family.
