Bol, Island of Brač, Croatia | Summer 2027

Spend a week on the beautiful island of Brač immersed in jazz, Brazilian music, improvisation and vocal expression — and finish the experience performing live with a professional jazz trio.

The Brač Jazz & Latin Vocal Workshop, led by jazz vocalist and holistic voice coach Maja Savić, is designed for singers who want to become more confident, expressive and independent musicians while developing their own individual sound.

This isn't only about learning songs.

It's about learning how to tell a story, feel the groove, improvise, communicate with musicians and make a song your own.

And you'll get to put everything into practice on stage.

WHAT YOU'LL EXPLORE

Throughout the week, we'll work with your voice, body, musicality and creativity through a combination of group sessions, individual coaching and rehearsals with professional musicians.

The program includes:

• Jazz interpretation and phrasing
• Improvisation and scat singing
• Jazz and blues scales
• Rhythm, swing and groove
• Brazilian music — Bossa Nova and Samba
• Brazilian rhythm, pronunciation and feel
• Circle Songs and spontaneous vocal improvisation
• Arranging songs and developing your own interpretation
• Choosing repertoire that works for your voice
• Communication with the band
• Count-offs, tempos, forms and essential jazz vocabulary
• Vocal technique and sounding
• Breathwork and body awareness
• Relaxation and mindfulness techniques for singers
• Performance confidence and stage presence

Most importantly, you'll be encouraged to experiment and discover your own musical language rather than trying to sound like somebody else.

WORK WITH A LIVE BAND

Knowing how to sing a song is one thing.

Knowing how to walk onto a stage, count it off, communicate with musicians, and confidently lead a band is another.

Each participant will prepare 1–2 individual songs during the workshop, working first with an accompanist and later rehearsing with a professional jazz trio.

We'll work on everything from choosing the right key and tempo to communicating the form, creating an arrangement, and finding the musical intention behind the song.

You'll then have the opportunity to perform your repertoire at our final live concert in Bol.

The group will also prepare a collective piece for the final performance.

Additional performance opportunities and jam sessions may be organized during the week.

YOUR TEACHER — MAJA SAVIĆ

Maja Savić is a Croatian jazz vocalist, voice coach and workshop facilitator based in Paris.

With more than 15 years of performing experience, she has developed an approach to vocal coaching that combines jazz musicianship, vocal technique, improvisation, body awareness and performance psychology.

Her work is particularly focused on helping singers move beyond simply singing the "right notes" and become confident, expressive musicians who trust their instincts and bring their own personality to the music.

Maja specializes in Jazz and Brazilian music, and performs and teaches regularly in Paris and internationally.

Her teaching incorporates traditional vocal work alongside breathwork, body awareness, sounding, visualization, Circle Songs, and improvisation — creating an approach that works with the singer as a whole.

WHO IS THIS WORKSHOP FOR?

This workshop is ideal for singers who already have some singing experience and want to go deeper into jazz, improvisation and performing with musicians.

You don't need to be an experienced jazz singer or already know how to improvise.

You do need curiosity, openness and a willingness to experiment.

The group is intentionally kept small so that every participant receives individual attention and meaningful time working with the musicians.

Between workshops and rehearsals, you'll have time to swim, explore Bol, eat by the sea and enjoy one of Croatia's most beautiful islands.

The idea is to create something between an intensive music workshop and a summer creative retreat:

great music, meaningful learning, live performance and a wonderful group of people sharing the experience together.

Travel, accommodation, and meals are not included.

GETTING TO BOL

The easiest route is to travel to Split by plane, bus or car.

From Split, you can:

• Take a direct catamaran to Bol, or
• Take the ferry to Supetar and continue to Bol by bus or car.

Ferry and catamaran schedules vary depending on the season, so we recommend checking the current summer timetable before travelling.

ACCOMMODATION

Bol is extremely popular during the summer, so we strongly recommend booking accommodation early.

There are many apartments, guesthouses and hotels available through local agencies, Airbnb and Booking.

If you'd like to share accommodation with another workshop participant, let us know when registering and we'll do our best to connect interested singers.
