Course Description:

The course taught by one of our partner universities, Univeristy of Tartu uniquely blends a focus on sustainable and responsible design with hands-on prototyping experience, using real-world case studies for practical application. It emphasizes reducing environmental impact through carbon footprint calculations and optimizing designs for industrial production.

Students engage in interactive sessions to redesign prototypes using 3D design software of their choice, fostering technical skill development and flexibility. Interactive feedback sessions encourage collaborative learning and improvement, making this course ideal for those looking to merge sustainability with industrial feasibility in product design.

Day 1 – 12 Dec 2024

Responsible Sustainable Design Constraints and Case Study Introduction: Familiarizing with sustainable and responsible prototype design drivers and methdology to use these criterias incluidng carbon footprint calculations.

Case Study, Technical Drawings Introductions, Working on Responsibe Design: Hands-on session receiving non-finished desgin prototype drawings, requiring to redesign in responsible industrially prototyiping way. Be prepared to use the 3D design software on your own choice. The initail drawing are distributed in STL format.

Day 2 – 13 Dec 2024

Mid report: Students will present their report

Hands-on session: Students will calculate and optimize their design carbon footprint and reponsible design, the final design will the prepered and uploaded to repository.

Seminar: Submitting final results and disussion
