📅 Program

Screenless Cities and Skin-to-Skin Architecture

▶ August 13th – 4pm CET / 10am ET

In a recent essay, researchers advance the concept of "Skin-to-Skin Architecture" to propose a tactile and multisensorial approach to urban spaces, where people could experience cities and buildings "not just as objects we use, but as spaces that touch us back". Through this episode, we will explore the concept of "Skin-to-Skin Architecture" with Menno Cramer (Director of UX at OutSystems and Founder of BAITT), co-author of the article, and put it in perspective with our works on Screenless Cities.

Urban AI and Cultural Heritage: Insights from Postdam

▶ August 20th 4pm CET / 10am ET

During this episode, Evgeny Kalachikhin, Art Director and Technical Direction at CX Studio, will present an emerging methodology for reconstructing historical sites with limited visual documentation. Using textual sources and on-site photogrammetric captures of existing buildings, we will explore how AI can merge spatial data to create historically accurate visualizations of heritage sites. We will also discuss a complementary project on the digitization, preservation, and recontextualization of film costume heritage, leveraging generative AI, and carried out as part of Potsdam’s initiatives as a UNESCO Creative City.

AlphaEarth Foundations: Implications for Urban AI and GeoIntelligence

▶ August 27th 4pm CET / 10am ET

Google DeepMind’s new AlphaEarth Foundations merges multiple public data sources into a unified, high-resolution planetary map, offering powerful new possibilities for cities. From mapping heat islands to detecting infrastructure vulnerabilities, its potential could democratize access to advanced geospatial intelligence. In this session, we will discuss the opportunities and challenges this innovation brings for Urban AI and GeoAI researchers and practitioners with Daphné Tapia, Director of Business Development at ImiSight and former host of #23 Urban AI Conversation: AI and Remote Sensing for Urban Sustainability.

AI in Public Service: Insights from Reykjavík

▶ September 3rd 4pm CET / 10am ET

The City of Reykjavík has embarked on an inspiring journey to develop ethical and inclusive approaches to artificial intelligence. This initiative aims to ensure that AI technologies serve all residents fairly, transparently, and responsibly—reflecting the city’s commitment to human-centered innovation. In this session, we will discuss and explore with Inga Rós Gunnarsdóttir, Chief Data Officer at the City of Reykjavík, the city’s vision, the practical steps taken to implement ethical AI across services, and the lessons learned along the way.
