Abstract

The financial and economic crisis has made many European economies deeply suffer, particularly those where the rigidity of labour market rules did not allow enterprises and workers to adapt. A widespread decrease in the representativity of trade unions has achieved the inability of social partners to respond adequately to the new challenges of collective bargaining. The collective dimension that inexcusably comes along with every system of industrial relations did not enjoy then, neither does it now, the same relevance as the individual aspects of the free movement of workers.

The Lecture by Professor Miranda Boto will analyze workers' representation, collective bargaining and the right to strike at European level, with the aim to explore existing and potential mechanisms of EU Law dealing with the collective dimension of European labour law.
