About this event

  • Event lasts 1 hour 30 minutes

The "butterfly effect" is all about small actions having large, sometimes unexpected consequences. Due to the interconnected nature of AI systems, combined with their potential applications in different user applications, their deployment can result in significant effects on society and the environment. In this talk, Sasha Luccioni, AI and Social Justice chair (Abeona - ENS - Obvia) and AI sustainability researcher, will present her current work to measure and address AI's direct and indirect environmental impacts, as well as propose future work to quantify the rebound effects that can take place due to the interactions of material, behavioral and economic effects of AI.
