Summer Space Academy – Exploring Space Together
As part of the Astronaut for a Day contest, the Luxembourg Space Agency, in collaboration with the Austrian Research Promotion Agency and the Estonian Space Office, is proud to present the Summer Space Academy. This series of webinars is designed to introduce participants to exciting topics in space.
This first webinar, hosted by the Luxembourg Space Agency, will focus on Space Resources and will be presented by Timon Schild from European Space Resources Innovation Center.
Timon SCHILD: He is a 29-year-old Swiss and French national, currently in the final year of his PhD at ESRIC. He initially studied mechanical engineering in France at INSA Lyon, including a two-year stay in Ireland at Trinity College Dublin. After graduating, he joined ESA for two years as part of Switzerland’s National Trainee Program. During this time, he worked at the European Astronaut Centre on technology development for lunar exploration, with a particular focus on In Situ Resource Utilization.
He joined ESRIC in 2022 to continue his work in this field. His current research focuses on the FFC molten salt electrolysis process, a promising technique to extract both oxygen and metals from lunar minerals.
