Presentation of the documentary film "The New Europeans"

A film directed by Nina Maria Paschalidou and produced by Point du jour (52')

Today, our continent is facing the biggest wave of migration since 1945: more than 4 million people have fled war-torn Ukraine. Europe welcomes these refugees with open arms where it had been closing its gates for years to others who came from the South, transforming itself into a militarized fortress. But can an aging Europe manage without integrating all of these new arrivals? Can Europe survive without migrants? How much freedom of movement will there be after the Covid-19 pandemic and the war in the Ukraine?

Speakers

  • Pierre-Olivier François, Journalist and film director, co-author of the film The New Europeans
  • Luc Martin-Gousset, Producer of the film, President of Point du Jour
  • Ettore Recchi, Professor of Sociology at Sciences Po, visiting fellow of the Migration Policy Centre (MPC) of the EUI (Florence) and the Institut Convergences Migrations (Paris), migration specialist.

The screening-debate will be introduced by Eleonora Russo, Secretary General at the Centre for European Studies and Comparative Politics, Sciences Po (from March 2023) and former Head of the Master in European Affairs at the School of Public Affairs, Sciences Po (until March 2023).
