Description

June 21-22, 2018 – JHU, Baltimore. This 2-day training session is a hands-on training on non-linear finite element modeling of structures in fire with the software SAFIR. The session will include theoretical lectures and practical examples completed step by step by the instructor and the participants on their personal laptop computer. The course starts at the introductory level.

Contents - General organization of the software, Thermal 2D analysis for beams, Thermal analysis for shells, Structural analysis with beams, Structural analysis with shells. The practical examples will include thermal and structural analyses of 3D frames and steel-concrete floor slabs. Only post-flashover fires described by time-temperature curves are considered at this stage (i.e. the coupling capabilities with localized fires and CFD are not covered in this session).

Requirements - For a most profitable experience, every participant should bring his personal computer with the pre-installed software package. The session will be based on the version 2016c0 of SAFIR, version 2016 of DIAMOND and version 12.0.10 of GiD. More information will be given to the participants prior to the session.
