Russia 2022: Who opposes the regime, how they do it, and why it matters

On-site conference co-organised by the School of Public Affairs and Eastern Circles, in partnership with the Paris School of International Affairs. Open to Sciences Po students, teachers and staff. A Sciences Po card will be required at the entrance of the building.

About the conference

We will discuss the nature and impact of civil society and remaining opposition forces in Russia.

About the speakers

Aleksandra Arkhipova is a social anthropologist, former Dean of the Typology Center in the Russian State University for Humanities, author of over 60 peer review publications on cultural anthropology, including the anthropology of protest.

Sergei Guriev is Sciences Po Provost, Professor of Economics at Sciences Po, Chief Economist of the EBRD 2016-2019 and member of The Other Russia.

Dmitri Petrov is a former deputy chair of an independent local council in Moscow, now residing in Paris, civic activist and anchor of Civium podcast.

Nina Zakharkina-Berezner is a Political analyst and researcher on Russian domestic policy, EU-Russia Civil Society Forum board member

The conference will be opened by Philippe Martin, Dean of the School of Public Affairs, Sciences Po, and moderated by Anastasiya Shapochkina, Founder and president of Eastern Circles and Faculty member of the School of Public Affairs.
