Can we imagine a film that would change the way people look at the ocean? Can we simply tell everyone about the greatest natural mystery of our planet? Can we finally help our children to believe in a better and sustainable world of tomorrow? This is the triple challenge of this cinematographic adventure.

Planète Océan is a great journey, an odyssey full of aerial and underwater images filmed all over the planet. Especially, the movie echoes Sri Lanka's close relationship with the Indian Ocean.

In this franco-swiss movie, Yann Arthus-Bertrand and Michael Pitiot explore the chain of life in the ocean from its origin to the present day. This ecological journey leads to the heart of the planet's little-known regions and into the strangest forms of life. It explains how everything that lives is linked and leads to man and his difficult existence on an ocean planet he has taken control of. The film deals in particular with the problems of industrial fishing, pollution and the environmental footprint, while at the same time questioning man's ability to decide his own destiny.

As part of the Francophonie week from 13 to 21 March, the Swiss embassy will screen the documentary in original version with English subtitles at Regal cinema on Wednesday 17 March at 19:00. The event will take place physically, strictly adhering to all health guidelines against COVID-19.

Le film aborde notamment les problèmes de la pêche industrielle, de la pollution et de l'empreinte écologique, tout en s'interrogeant sur la capacité de l'homme à décider de son propre destin.

Dans le cadre de la semaine de la Francophonie du 13 au 21 mars, l'ambassade de Suisse projettera le documentaire en version orginiale sous-titrée en anglais au cinéma Regal le mercredi 17 mars à 19h00. L'événement se déroulera physiquement, dans le strict respect de toutes les directives sanitaires contre le COVID-19.
