Event description

Description

Objectives of the workshop

  • Highlight the socio-economic burden and challenges represented by re-emergence and epidemics due to emerging zoonotic viruses

  • Review opportunities based on the results of the PREDEMICS project, that provided identification of risk factors for zoonotic viruses emergence and species barrier crossing, identified conditions of transmission, spread and persistence, and uncovered mechanisms of host-virus interplay that could serve as basis for intervention strategies

  • Discuss the way forward towards improved preparedness, prediction and prevention of emerging zoonotic viruses by integration of science, communication, and policy.
