Event description

Description

Today, getting to and from Brussels is very challenging. Public as well as private initiatives are urgently needed to find mobility solutions for the Brussels metropolitan region.

During the Mobility Shift Summit, Brussels Metropolitan wishes to highlight the necessity to tackle the mobility issues collaboratively with all stakeholders. The questions raised are: the future tendencies in terms of urban development in Europe; the co-creative visions needed for tomorrow's metropolis; the recent public and/or private solutions brought forward in a collaborative way; the best practices in terms of governance that can inspire our region; and the methods to enhance dialogue on interregional level. The Mobility Shift Summit is a constructive call for more willingness, more awareness, more collaboration and more action.

Join the discussion with the political and economic stakeholders, get inspired by existing collaborative projects and come experience the general commitment to tomorrow's mobility.

As guest of honor, Alexander D'Hooghe will kick off the Mobility Shift Summit.

Alexander D'Hooghe is director of the MIT Center for Advanced Urbanism (CAU) and principal of the Organization for Permanent Modernity (ORG). D'Hooghe is associate professor in architectural urbanism with tenure at MIT, and has published internationally. D'Hooghe obtained his Ph.D. at the Berlage Institute in 2007 with T.U. Delft, after achieving a Masters in Urban Design at the Harvard GSD in 2001, and a master in Architecture and Civil Engineering from the University of Leuven in 1996. He is a licensed architect in Belgium.

The program also includes a debate between Maxime Prévot, Ben Weyts, Pascal Smet, François Bellot, regional and federal Ministers of Mobility (and Public Works) and business leaders, Philippe Van Troeye (Engie), Karel Van De Sompel (Pfizer Belgium), Etienne Rigo (OCTA+) and Filip Dierckx (BNP Paribas Fortis).

The public will be able to interact through the interactive app Matchtalks (download now on IOS or Google play store).
