MAD summer talk with MAISON the FAUX

Discover the world of MAISON the FAUX, a design studio with a vision of fashion as a form of expression and a platform for identity, resistance and imagination.

Lady Gaga wears their pieces. They have shows from New York and Los Angeles to Paris. And in just a few years, the fashion house has grown into an interdisciplinary studio. As part of the Come As You Are exhibition, MAD Brussels will welcome the Dutch duo behind MAISON the FAUX for a summer evening conference on Thursday 28 August. The work of Tessa de Boer and Joris Suk explores the boundary between reality and fiction, with the necessary humour, self-relativisation and a sincere love of fashion.

MAISON the FAUX is “a creative studio posing as a grand couture fashion house”. The Fictional House, a rough translation of MAISON the FAUX, is rooted in the great fascination of what’s REAL and FAKE, a great sense of humor and self-mockery, combined with a deep love of fashion. The studio specializes in performance art, fashion & costume design and set and interior design. The work of MAISON the FAUX is determined by it’s multidisciplinary approach; MAISON the FAUX aims to create work that finds the perfect synergy between many creative arts. Creating shows, plays, experiences, collections, spaces and much more, that invites audiences to be a part of the MAISON the FAUX universe. MAISON the FAUX previously showed their independent (fashion) presentations during New York, Los Angeles, Amsterdam and Tokyo Fashion Week.

MAISON the FAUX has now been associated with NITE for 4 years as performance designers. In addition, MAISON the FAUX works as a design studio for clients in the cultural . MAISON the FAUX is a winner of a 2018 Dutch Design Award, the 2021 Gieskes Strijbis fonds podiumkunsten award and the 2022 Cultuurfonds Modestipendium.
