Infravation is the new ERA-NET (EN) Plus project on infrastructure innovation.
The project is a transnational collaboration of 11 countries, which will launch an Infravation 2014 Call pooling some 9 million EURO, including a top-up of the European Commission (EC). For the first time, the USA (Federal Highway Administration) will contribute funding to an EN Plus Call.
The Infravation 2014 Call aims to support the development of advanced systems, materials and techniques for road infrastructure. The topics being covered have been specified in a Scoping Study and are drawn from the following challenges:
- Advanced predictive infrastructure performance processes
- Enhanced durability and life-time extension
- Rapid and non-destructive methods for routine quality and performance checks of materials and construction.
- Keeping freight routes open through zero-intrusive maintenance
- Ensuring infrastructure performance under all weather conditions
- Resource and energy efficiency in road construction and maintenance (Eco-design)
- Virgin material reduction by substitution or recycling.
The target group includes research institutes, universities, industry & business. The Infravation 2014 Call is for the development of innovative technologies for road operations, either on the European, national, regional or urban network. In the case of techniques for construction and maintenance, aspects such as advanced robotics could be developed.
Register here by 14th March 2014 for the Infravation 2014 Call joint information and brokerage day being held at the Diamant Centre in Brussels on 20th March 2014. Participation in the event is free of charge. For logistical reasons, all participants are required to register for the event using the online registration system.
In the morning session, potential applicants will be provided detailed information on the thematic scope of the call, as well as on the preparation and submission of project proposals. Brokerage activities will dominate the afternoon session, providing opportunities to meet up with other potential project applications.
During the afternoon session, participants looking for partners will be given the opportunity to present their organisations and ideas for project proposals in two different ways:
- In written form using templates specially designed for this purpose (see the documents for download below).
Ideas for project proposals and profiles of organisations submitted prior to the event will be displayed on pin boards for all participants to read. Parties interested in cooperating will be encouraged to leave behind a business card for the author of the document in question.
- In the form of a brief oral presentation (3 minute flash presentation)
Project ideas and profiles of organisations to be displayed on the pin boards and presentations should be sent to the Infravation Call Secretariat at firstname.lastname@example.org, email@example.com.
Deadline for submission of written materials and presentations is 14th March 2014.
