Illustrative Hand Embroidery Workshop by Umamade

Treat yourself to a creative and inspiring break with Umamade.

Uma is an embroidery artist passionate about slow craft and handmade techniques.

During this workshop, you’ll be invited to discover the delicate art of hand embroidery in a warm and welcoming creative space. Upon arrival, Uma will introduce you to the fundamentals of embroidery, along with the tools and materials used throughout the session: embroidery hoops, fabrics, threads, and patterns.

After this introduction, it’s time to get hands-on. You’ll be able to choose from a selection of embroidery patterns provided by Uma or create and draw your own illustration. Your chosen design will then be transferred onto the fabric using a washable pencil.

Uma will guide you through three to four essential embroidery stitches — backstitch, running stitch, stem stitch, and French knot. You’ll first practice these stitches on a small sample before moving on to your final piece.

Throughout the workshop, Uma will be by your side, offering guidance and tips to help you feel confident with the techniques and gestures.

To finish, you’ll focus on the final details and secure your embroidery in its hoop. At the end of the workshop, you’ll leave with your own beautiful embroidered piece and all the skills needed to continue embroidering at home.
