The PSIA Technology and Global Affairs Innovation Hub with European think-tank ECDPM and the Bertelsmann Stiftung are organising an international panel to discuss different approaches to digital industrial policy and infrastructures in an evolving global technology landscape.
Amidst increasing polarisation between United States and Chinese tech dominance, and with new challenges emerging from recent geopolitical shifts, this event will explore alternative models for digital sovereignty and infrastructure development. Comparing the current strategies of the EU, India, Brazil, South Africa, and the African Union, we will discuss the new avenues for international strategic collaboration, fostering digital sovereignty, economic development, sustainability, and democratic resilience.
To contribute to this lively conversation, we will be honored to welcome:
- Francesca Bria, Honorary Professor, Institute for Innovation and Public Purpose, University College of London and author of the EuroStack report
- Sérgio Branco, Director, Instituto de Technologia e Sociedade (ITU) Rio de Janeiro
- Vikram Sinha, Director, Centre for Technology and Innovation & Research Fellow, Artha Global
- Shamira Ahmed, Founder & Executive Director - Data Economy Policy Hub
- Anri Van der Spuy, Senior Associate, Research ICT Africa
The PSIA Tech & Global Affairs Innovation Hub's Constance de Leusse and Martin Hullin, Digitalization and the Common Good program Director, Bertelsmann Stiftung will deliver introductory remarks.
