About this event
Body Agency is a series of workshops that explore the themes of personal power and resilience.
Our sense of agency is rooted in histories, our experiences in society, and the roles assigned onto our bodies. Yet there is also an inward-outward directionality - where power comes from deep within and we can act on our world. And there are the mirrors of a supportive community that may help re-ignite our inner fire.
The tools are movement and language, the container is the group, the space, music. Somatics and dance invite us to experience the perceptual and sensual layers of agency. How do we feel power in our bodies? When and where does it rise? How does our presence re/claim shared space?
Not to dominate, or to prove, but to creatively be with each other.
-
Somatics are here to ground us into our body and earth. Dance gives space for feeling, and through this feeling an inner place of freedom may open. From this opening, we may find a way to our unique agency: a felt sense of choice and action.
First workshop:
Saturday September 20, 2025 at Studio Marga (75011)
4 pm to 6 pm
Flow:
Opening reflections & group sharing - we start by exploring a concept related to agency by an author, activist, spiritual leader or thinker, with the aim to inspire us into sharing.
Guided somatic practice leading into dance - the more embodied part of the workshop, where we re/connect with our body as that place of power and knowledge.
Closing - we take the time to close our collective practice and end the workshop.
Note : you do not need to be a dancer or "dance well" to participate in these workshops. An openness and curiosity to movement is enough to make the most of it :)
Pricing:
Full price: 35 euros
Reduced price*: 25 euros
*for students, persons who are unemployed, persons with disabilities, persons identified BIPOC, persons identified LGBTQ+
General guidelines:
We seek to co-create a container that is free of judgment, towards our self and others, so we can explore this theme of agency with sensitivity and curiosity. Active listening and compassion are values that guide our relationship to one another in this space.

About the facilitator:
Mytam is a dancer, facilitator and collaborator based in Paris, France.
Her work is centered on creating shared moments where we can be present, sensitive, creative together; where we can reflect on the cultures we are part of and our ways of seeing.
The co-created workshops are primarily based on movement, collective dialogue, and musical soundscapes to reflect on a variety of connected topics such as patriarchy, mental health, and ecology. She has also offered dance as therapy, for domestic violence and sexual violence survivors in an institutional framework.
Dance, movement, is an integral part of the workshops. She sees movement as a way to reconnect to our body, to the persons that surround us, to the life that surrounds us, and to the nature we may not always see, but can feel.
Personally, dancing is a practice of decolonization. Of Vietnamese and U.S. origins, she feels the legacy of colonialism, racism, and war. Through dance, she finds the space to embody, transmute, and release.
