Apero'Theatre, Orestes in Mosul by Milo RAU, at Vidy-Theatre
Informations sur l'événement
À propos de cet événement
The Vidy-Lausanne Theatre is dedicated to contemporary creation, defining itself as a site of encounters between today’s art and the widest possible audience. Installed within a building built by the Zurich artist and architect Max Bill, it contains four auditoriums and a vast foyer-bar opening onto the beach of Vidy, with a view over Lake Geneva and the Alps.
In december this year, the Bernese director Milo Rau transposes Aeschylus’ Orestes to Mosul, the first capital of the Islamic State’s “caliphate”. Thanks to an Iraqi and European casting and a rare mastery of dramatic emotion, the Bernese director merges myth and current events in order to question the perpetuation of violence and the impossible justice of revenge.
