Overview

Discover key investigations from Forbidden Stories and how they collaborated with Society for a new special edition.

Join us for a special event with Forbidden Stories and Society that will bring together journalists from both teams to talk about some of Forbidden Stories’ key investigations — from the Pegasus spyware project to Russian disinformation in the Central African Republic, Israel’s targeting of journalists in Gaza, the imprisonment and torture of Ukrainian civilians, gangs in Haiti, and mining in Guatemala.

Journalists will discuss how their teams worked together to adapt Forbidden Stories’ work for a new special edition of Society.

More details to come.

If a journalist falls, others rise and collectively continue their work: that’s the simple principle behind Forbidden Stories. It’s not just about solidarity. It is an imperative need to inform the public on subjects as pressing as they are dangerous to cover—such as environmental crimes, corruption, and human rights violations.

Founded in 2015, Society is a free and independent bi-monthly news magazine published by So Press, known for its unique tone and in-depth reporting. Combining narrative journalism, culture, society, and news stories, Society has established itself as a media outlet that tells the world’s stories differently—with depth, humor, and commitment.

This event will take place in Reid Hall’s Grande Salle Ginsberg-LeClerc, built in 1912 and extensively renovated in 2023 thanks to the generous support of Judith Ginsberg and Paul LeClerc.

Reid Hall, the Columbia Global Paris Center, and the Institute for Ideas and Imagination are not responsible for the views and opinions expressed by their speakers and guests.
