Event description

Description

Since the middle of the 20th century, European countries have created extensive social security systems with the pension system as one of its central planks. The sustainability of these pensions systems is today being called into question by unprecedented economic and social changes, such as longer working lives, immigration, globalisation, automation and digitisation. At its next public conference, Finance Watch invites citizens, regulators, academics and industry representatives to discuss how to meet these emerging challenges for our pension systems:

  • Goodbye to old certainties: What future for social security and pensions in Europe?
  • The need for reform: How much, how fast and …. how?
  • From EIORP to PEPP: What could be the EU’s contribution to the pension policy debate?
  • Three Pillars or House of Cards: How will changing fundamentals affect the balance between state-funded, occupational and personal pensions?
