Space communications play a key role in today’s world. Rapid technical and political developments raise new legal questions. The 13th international SES workshop will focus on three topical areas that merit particular attention - the regulatory framework for the expanding Direct-to-Device (D2D) technology; the legal aspects of the EU IRIS² constellation which is envisaged to provide secure connectivity services for Europe; and the regulatory and licensing challenges associated with the ground infrastructure necessary to operate satellite services. The workshop will feature high-profiled speakers from international, European and national institutions, industry and academia, facilitating a qualified exchange of information, and highlighting synergies with evolving legislation, including the recent draft of the EU Space Act.
